This is a classic album. There are not too many guys who grew up in the eighties without having gone through a rush phase to some degree. I will not list the songs on here simply because they are obvious selections and can be heard on a daily basis on classic rock stations around the world. It is definitely the most hit laden of Rush studio albums, with some lean songs that do not go overboard, and made for FM consumption. Yet, Moving Pictures still manages to strike the fine balance between classic rock and what is deemed progressive. It is just techinical enough to engage better musicians for repeat listening. It is also hooky enough for the average joe. The first side is pretty much the classic A side. The second side leaves you hanging, wondering what happened to the rest of the album.
This is not a review for the LP. However, I have a feeling that it would be well-worth listening to on vinyl (it sounds good enough on my cassette player).
